Bug Huntin' SoCal Style
Threw the kids and dog in the truck and hauled ballz to SoCal for opening night of Lobster season, made the trip in less than 5 hours...Friday Night/Saturday Morning: Met up with Debbie Karimoto of OCdiving.com at the Montage Resort in Laguna Beach at 11pm and was greeted by a good 25 other divers, it was a regular scuba divers convention. Made our way out of the 2' surf and dropped down a little past midnight. Lots of small bugs only a few 'keepers', most not even worth catching and measuring. A good dive, while unproductive, fun nevertheless.
Saturday Night: Met Peter and Len at a spot not to be disclosed, no scuba convention here, a virgin site! Surf was non-existant and the bugs were plentiful, problem was most were 1/16-1/4" short, I must have caught and measured 15-20. Surge was crazy, went from La La La to Holy **** in some spots, had to been close to 10' at times, between that and the 'sand storms' it was a fun dive. After the dive called it a night everyone was beat.
All-in-all a fun quick trip, good dives, with good buddies. Came home with 3 bugs so the kids and I can have surf-n-turf for dinner one night. We'll try our luck again at Thanksgiving if not sooner.

Just a short recap to catch things up. Met Rob and Jen from SouthWest Scuba at the lake weekend before last (9/23/06) while they were having an AOW class. Jay came out for an afternoon dive. First two dives explored the newly found wall, then tagged along for the AOW night dive.
